Although timing widely, babies often begin teething by about age 6 months. The two bottom front teeth are usually the first to appear.
During the teething period there are symptoms that include irritability, disrupted sleep, swelling or inflammation of the gums drooling, loss of appetite, rash around the mouth, mild temperature, diarrhea, increased biting and gum-rubbing and even ear-rubbing.
What are the first signs of teething?
- Swollen, tender gums.
- Fussiness and crying.
- A slightly raised temperature .
- Gnawing or wanting to chew on hard things.
- Lots of drool, which can cause a rash on their face.
- Coughing.
- Rubbing their cheek or pulling their ear.
- Bringing their hands to their mouth.
When do babies gum start hurting?
Teething generally occurs between 6 to 24 months of age. Symptoms of teething include irritability, tender and swallow gums and the infant wanting to place objects or fingers into the mouth in an attempt to reduce discomfort. Fever, cough, diarrhea, and cold symptoms are not found when a child is teething.
How long do babies gums hurt when teething ?
An individual tooth will usually only cause discomfort for few days at most. but it can take longer for some babies. The whole teething process is usually complete by the age of two to three years.
